Our Woman’s Power Hour profiles and celebrates women who are storming the short stay industry and this edition is showcasing the awesome Jenny Farenden from Fantastic Services.

How did you get into the short-term rentals industry?

Fantastic Services is a one-stop shop company for property maintenance services. In the last years we have had to diversify our portfolio to meet the demand of customers in the fast growing Short-term rentals industry by providing short-let cleaning and maintenance services. The industry is becoming increasingly popular and we strive to stay in line with the market dynamics.

How did you come to found your company and what were the biggest challenges you faced when setting it up?

Fantastic Services grew from a small carpet cleaning business to a large service provider operating on 3 continents. We had to make sure we are compliant with the legal requirements in the different markets and our services address the local demand.

How do you intend to face the challenges within the industry as a company?

The short-let industry is growing at high speed and disruptive technology comes into play. As a business we invest in innovative technological solutions to stay competitive. Functionalities like real-time availability and fast booking times are real game changers.

What is your advice for the next generation of leaders and change-makers?

Always think from the customer’s perspective and build your business to provide solutions people need.

How do you keep self-motivated?

Maintaining a positive state of mind is absolutely essential in an industry as busy as this. I attend a lot of self-development seminars, read books by authors who inspire me, and strive to keep good work-life balance.

Biggest lesson you have learnt about yourself?

There is no limit to what you can achieve if you overcome fear.

Best piece of advice you were given?

A solution that works now, even if not perfect, is more valuable than a well-thought out solution later. We live in a society where time is everything.

Who is the individual you admire the most?

There are many people who inspire me but a name that comes to mind is Tony Robbins. I attended his Unleash the Power Within London 2019 event and was really motivated by his story and the way he has built his business.

Holiday destination of choice?

I enjoy peaceful holidays away from the big city. Cornwall, UK is one of my personal favourites.

Your Favourite city in the world?

There is no other place like London.

How do you celebrate your achievements?

I celebrate all achievements with my team. They are the people I spend the most time with and all our achievements are a result of our team work.

If you could run any company in the world what would it be and why?

I am very emotionally attached to our brand, our story and our mission. We have built this company from scratch, grown so much and continue to explore new horizons. I would not want to be in any other company but Fantastic Services.

Favourite podcast?

Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time for podcasts recently.

What book would you recommend?

The One Minute Manager by Kenneth H. Blanchard and Spencer Johnson
